About the Club

  • York County AFC is an independent soccer club representing all 29 towns and cities of York County, Maine. Founded to bring high-level soccer to the county, the club’s mission is rooted in community, opportunity, and accessibility.

  • Our inaugural season will begin in May of 2026.

  • The club is finalizing its home venue for the 2026 season. Once an agreement is official, details will be announced publicly.

  • York County AFC has been provisionally accepted into The League for Clubs, with an official announcement pending.

  • York County AFC is independently owned and operated as an LLC by York County resident, club founder, President, & CEO Dave Townsend.

Team, Matchday, & Experience

  • The club will feature a mix of local talent, collegiate players, and aspiring professionals, with an emphasis on giving local players a platform for high-level competition and a pathway to professional soccer.

  • Yes. Open tryouts will be held ahead of the 2026 season. Details will be announced through the club’s official website and social media channels.

  • York County AFC competes at the armature pre-professional level, ensuring that all collegiate players maintain NCAA eligibility.

  • The 2026 season will include 4-6 home fixtures dependent upon the number of teams in the conference, plus potential friendlies.

  • Yes. All league matches will be streamed live as require by The League for Clubs. More information on how to tune in will be available soon.

  • A welcoming, community-focused environment, complete with family activities, youth walkouts, and local partnerships celebrating the people and places of York County.

  • No. The club is committed to supporting and celebrating existing youth soccer programs throughout the county — not replacing them.

  • The club aims to work alongside local schools and youth clubs, offering visibility, collaborative events, and free skills clinics for youth players.

  • Yes. The club intends to host youth walkouts, halftime activities, and fan engagement events throughout the 2026 season.

  • Volunteer opportunities will stay open throughout the year, but are largely focused on matchday operations, promotions, and community events during the pre-season and season.
